Holy Zucchini!
The zucchini of myth.
Of Mark Twain short story-dom.
Of takeovertheworldovernightifyoudon'twatchout-dom...
I mean... It's so big you can't even see Eugene and I, right? Where are we right now? Can't even tell, can you? No. You can't. Trust me, though....we're in the picture below. Right behind that enormous squash. Yeah. I know. We're there. You have to look really close, but we're there. Amazing, right?
And a comparison to a common green grape.
Yes, a little forced perspective, but come on! County Fairs all around the country should just be giving up and sending us their medals. Does it get any more impressive than this?
Yeah. I didn't think so.
More amazingness soon...
Love to all...

Evening Watering
Stopped by the garden to water en route to the theater. Found our friend, Young Rabbit, hiding beneath squash leaves. Surprisingly calm and unafraid of us. Refreshing. And so rare, it seems.
Kale that used to be measly is no longer.
More squash leaves...
The Intimidating Wall stands guard on the frontier of Eugene's yard.
Ears are growing!
Dill, kale, and squash of some sort - we've forgotten what's what!
The garden...
And a close up of the squash seeking world domination.
Nasturtiums! If you've never tried a nasturtium flower, do. So spicy! Really lovely!
Hope all are well!

Sunday morning...
Morning, All...
The Intimidating Wall is growing more so each day. (Double click on the image below and before it increases in size, close your eyes and bring your face really close to the screen. Then open your eyes. Brace yourself for the intimidation.)
Have purchased tiki torches and citronella candles to turn the garden into an evening spot. Bring your gin and tonic and join us!
Have great Sundays, All...

Do it again with this photo. Oh. Oh, goodness....
Pulled out a beet to see where we were.
Still in elementary school, I suppose.
But still... Oh, the bounty!
Have great Sundays, All...

the new gardener
Hey there, friends...

He's not eating much and tends to look after things well, so we welcomed the company...
Hope all are well!

It Takes a Village
Hey there, Friends!
Saturday morning and we set out to do a little weeding. Amy and Eugene and I got to it mid-morning.
We have a few squash plants that are, of course, taking over everything and we've forgotten what each on is. But the blooms are beautiful!
Beets at attention!
Simon and Richard, visiting from Los Angeles, came over to help pull some weeds as well.
More soon!

Stake the Tomatoes!
The Intimidating Wall of Corn is getting bigger...
And the marigolds are getting brighter...
And the tomatoes are getting unruly.
So today we staked them using my grandfather's tobacco tomato stakes.
Here, Eugene shows off one of the finished products.

And the finished job. You can't really see them all that well here, but trust us, the stakes are in and the tomatoes are secure.

Eugene wanted to use his body and this piece of rope to express the inner meaning of "intimidating" in The Intimidating Wall of Corn.

A close-up.

I think he expresses this idea perfectly. Don't you?

An Afternoon Weeding

As you can see, the weeds have taken over.
So Eugene and I set work today for about three hours....
Along with the help of Sonny, Eugene's amazing neighbor...
We got in there and got our hands...
And bellies...
Dirty...
But we did it!
A shot of that one little watermelon plant. It's grown, huh?
More to come!
Hope all are well...
